Just like us normal everyday “Joes” trying to keep up with the Jones, superheroes like to trade in their cars for a newer model every so often. But more so than normal people, a superhero’s car is an extension of his or her self. Not many vehicles have been more iconic than the Green Hornet’s Black Beauty. But it’s 2016, and the Green Hornet has traded in the old 1965 Chrysler Imperial Crown for something a little sleeker but with more muscle than a champion weightlifter. Try not to turn green with envy as you covet the latest iteration of the Hornet’s Black Beauty.
The Green Hornet hasn’t strayed far from his Chrysler roots, choosing a custom made 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Modern muscle is what this superhero craves and the Hellcat Black Beauty hits the bull’s eye. This hot rod is painted with a black green pearl of essence lacquer rubbed to a high gloss. It includes a high front Fascia for extra air flow and just that edge of Green Hornet flair. Any other sports car driver that hits a red light next to the Green Hornet bows his head in shame and doesn’t bother to rev the engine for a race.
This Black Beauty’s speedometer registers up to 200 mph but the Green Hornet won’t be watching the speedometer anytime soon. Especially not when he has a 707 horsepower 6.2 liter Hemi SRT eight-cylinder Hellcat engine. Many super villains who have studied the Green Hornet and his equipment don’t bother trying to elude him by automobile knowing he now possesses this kind of power under his hood.
In the middle of the high flow front fascia is a drop down nozzle that sprays a dose of knockout gas in order to disable his opponents temporarily while the Green Hornet serves up his sting full of justice. Two retractable panels, one under each headlight make way for rocket-powered warheads that provide a more permanent solution to the Hornet’s issues with crime. A hatch in the trunk lid gives way to a launch pad for a small flying drone the Hornet utilizes for audio and video surveillance of his enemies.
With as much speed as the new Black Beauty provides, many of the Green Hornet’s enemies are forced to attack from behind. Unfortunately for those that make the mistake of thinking otherwise, the Black Beauty can attack at the rear as well. The trunk lid is lined with more rocket-powered warheads and another gas nozzle appears from behind where a license plate would go to disable all those who would oppose him. The car sometimes is driven by the Hornet and other times controlled remotely. A nice layer of dark window tint conceals the Hornet’s presence should he be at the wheel.
Getting jealous of the Green Hornet’s ride? We can’t say we’d blame you. But he’s not the only one with a sick ride. Make sure you check out our blog to see what our other favorite superheroes and villains are driving, and don’t forget to vote for your favorite superhero and his or her ride!
