Summer is fast approaching and at Executive Motorsports, we want your vehicle to be prepared. Window tinting is one of the best ways to prepare for the hotter months of the year so that you can protect your vehicle’s interior as well as make it more comfortable for you to drive around town.
There are a lot of things that you can do to your windows for the summer. First, think about a strong window tint so that you can block out a majority of the UV rays. You can also get some reflective sun shades to use on the main windshield when the car is parked for extended hours. This will help block some of the light that can heat up your car on sunny days so it’s not like an oven when you climb in.
It is also a good idea to park in covered areas whenever possible so you can take advantage of the shade. This will prevent your car from heating up as much over the course of the day.
Now is the time you want to bring your car to the local mechanic to have them check the integrity of your AC unit. There may be issues with the evaporator or condenser. It’s better to have them looked at now so that when the heat does start to show up, you can cool yourself down with the press of a button. You may be pushing the limits of your AC as you reach the hottest part of the summer.
Take a good look at the seats of your car. Leather is going to cool down the fastest, though you may want to consider a porous mesh. Some kind of breathable material will allow your skin to breathe when it touches the seat. There are various cooling gel covers and pads that you can purchase to place on the seats as well which may make your drive a little more comfortable.
The heat and infrared solar radiation can do a lot of damage to your car—and it can make it uncomfortable for you, as well. Even if it’s 60 degrees outside, it could easily be 100 degrees or more on the inside of your car. You want to make sure the seats, the steering wheel, and everything else is cool enough that you and your passengers are comfortable. Window tint can help to prevent fading of the interior and lower the temperature of the interior.
